An Act to define aggrevious felonies, as we lack the history of common law, that they may be properly punished.
Be it Enacted by the Hall of the Consilium of South Florida:
Section I. -- Definitions
Assault is defined as the physical abuse of an Awakened person, without the consent of that person. Assault is a felony.
Theft is defined as depriving an Awakened person of property, without the consent of that person. Theft is a felony.
Rape is defined as the sexual or mental assault of an Awakened person, without the consent of that person. Rape is a felony.
Soul Tampering is defined as the theft or alteration of any Awakened soul without the consent of the owner of the soul. Soul Tampering is a felony.
Murder is defined as the intentional killing, when not in self-defense, of any Awakened entity with a soul, or destruction of the soul of any Awakened entity, without the consent of that entity. Murder is a felony.
Treason is defined as deliberately assisting any Enemy of the State upon whom war is formally declared; or intentionally assisting the Banishers, the Seers of the Throne, or the Exarchs; or deliberately casting Abyssal magics. Treason is a felony.
Section II. -- Penalties
Upon Conviction of a felony by a Panel of Judges, the Panel may decide the appropriate penalty for the crime committed, as follows:
For Assault, the Panel may order for the Convicted imprisonment for a term not to exceed one year; psychotherapy and counseling; behaviour restraining Magics to prevent further Assault for a term not to exceed five years; repayment of Damages, both punitory and compensatory, in property or Tass or services.
For Theft, the Panel may order for the Convicted imprisonment for a term not to exceed six months; behaviour restraining Magics to prevent further Theft for a term not to exceed one year; repayment of Damages, both punitory and compensatory, in property or Tass or services.
For Rape, the Panel may order for the Convicted imprisonment for a term not to exceed twenty years; behavior restraining Magics to prevent further Rape for a term not to exceed fifty years; repayment of Damages, both punitory and compensatory, in property or Tass or services.
For Soul Tampering, the Panel may order for the Convicted imprisonment for a term not to exceed the natural or magically-extended lifespan of the Convicted; execution of the Convicted by hanging or firing squad or painless magics; behavior restraining or altering Magics of a permanent duration; repayment of Damages, both punitory and compensatory, in property or Tass or services.
For Murder, the Panel may order for the Convicted imprisonment for a term not to exceed the natural or magically-extended lifespan of the Convicted; the execution of the Convicted by hanging or firing squad or painless magics; behavior restraining or altering Magics of a permanent duration; repayment of Damages, both punitory and compensatory, in property or Tass or services.
